Dear list Last Friday in Brecon, Wales, we had a very successful public meeting at which SELMA CHALABI from Cardiff, presented her film, LAND OF MY FATHER. The film is about the feelings of an Iraqi family living in Britain and Europe in the aftermath of the Gulf War. It is short (about half an hour) and very moving. It was made before the present buildup to war began and is not heavily political. Selma, however, proved well able to address the various political and historical issues that it raised. She does not share the views of her better known namesake, Ahmad. This format was particularly appropriate now that our Prime Minsiter is calling on us to to hear the voices of the four million Iraqis living in exile. If anyone else would like to try it, Selma can be contacted at selma_chalabi@hotmail.com. best wishes Peter _______________________________________________ Sent via the discussion list of the Campaign Against Sanctions on Iraq.
