Getting Better at Arguing Against Sanctions
An Anti-Sanctions Activist Workshop

LONDON, SATURDAY 8 SEPTEMBER 2001

Economic sanctions continue to take a heavy toll on ordinary families
in Iraq. As we enter the twelfth year of sanctions, the need for well-
informed, strong arguments has never been greater.

Drawing on three years of successful campaigning, Voices in the
Wilderness UK presents a workshop for anyone who wants to
improve their ability to make telling and persuasive arguments against
the sanctions, whether in conversation with their neighbours, in
public meetings or in encounters with their MPs.

Drawing together the latest information, the most inspiring stories,
and the best campaigning experiences around Iraq, the workshop will
be the best preparation for a powerful autumn of campaigning against
the sanctions.

Presented by Milan Rai and Gabriel Carlyle, with a speaker from a
recent Voices sanctions-breaking delegation to Iraq. With Voices US
video. Plus mini-auction of anti-sanctions goods.

Note: there will be fare-sharing to help people to attend from outside
London. Everyone will pay equal travel costs (unwaged people will pay
half as much as waged participants).

Attendance is free, but we will ask for donations to cover the cost of
the room.

Places are limited. To register, please contact Milan Rai
<milanrai@btinternet.com> 0845 458 9571 or 29 Gensing Road, St
Leonards on Sea, East Sussex TN38 0HE.

11am-4pm, Saturday 8 September, Torriano Meeting House, 99
Torriano Avenue, London NW5.
